About Us
Meet Dr Liezl Stockigt
Karoo Occupational Health is the only registered occupational health provider in the Central Karoo with an on-site occupational health doctor. Based in Beaufort West, we deliver honest, straightforward medical assessments for companies in construction, farming, wind, solar, and industry.
Dr. Liezl Stockigt performs every examination personally — with over 20 years assessing workers in the region. Fit employees receive their Certificate of Fitness the same day.

We ensure full compliance with South African occupational health legislation, including:
- Occupational Health and Safety Act (No 85 of 1993) and regulations
- Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act (No 130 of 1993 – COIDA)
- Mine Health and Safety Act (No 29 of 1996) where applicable
- Relevant SANS standards for equipment and testing
We work with requirements from the Department of Employment and Labour (DEL), Department of Mineral Resources and Energy, and Department of Health (DOH).

Liezl
KOH and PP - Doctor
Dr Stockigt has her MBChB degree (UOFS) and her Occupational Health Diploma (with distinction – UCT), her BA degree in Communications (UOFS) and is a DAME for the SACAA (Designated Aviation Medical Examiner). She has a Diploma in Fashion design and clothing construction and runs Skin Health@Prickly Pear ( Aesthetic clinic) at the practice in Beaufort West. She also gardens enthusiastically.
Hanneli
KOH and PP - Doctor
Hanneli qualified as our Technician to expand the practice services. Her passion is beautiful skin – she is our qualified aesthetician at Skin Health@Prickly Pear with a ITEC Diploma in Health and Skincare. She also manages chronic applications in the practice and some of our billing.
Sophie
KOH - Assistant
Sophie has 39 years experience with medical practices and runs our CSSD department, manages stock levels and orders and is our general assistant at KOH. She helps out at reception while our technicians are elsewhere engaged or on leave and does so with aplomp. She is an absolute gem – very reliable and dedicated. Sophie’s son is a civil engineer and her pride and joy.
Morne'
KOH Technical Assistant
Morne is your first contact with KOH – he manages admin, quotations and bookings for KOH (mostly with a smile and sometimes with a touch of sarcasm) and on the day of your medical, he often administers your lung fitness test, vision and hearing evaluations. He is always enthusiastic and often accompanies Dr Stockigt to site work for efficient service. He is an enthusiastic father of four. He is passionate about sport and has Interprovincial colours for Lawn Bowls and SA colours in Ringball.
